Destined for another summer hit following his Beatport no.1 Joys on Defected, Roberto Surace now makes his debut on Sonny Fodera’s Solotoko with new single Cookies ft. The Melody Men.
Breaking through onto the scene with Joys, Italy’s finest Roberto Surace has swiftly spiralled into the spotlight. His new single with The Melody Men is set to follow a similar path to Joys, which saw Roberto land no.1 on Beaport and the Shazam Dance Chart, remaining there for 11 weeks as the most Shazamed track during Ibiza’s 2019 season.
The hit single is still flying high, with 17 million streams and counting on Spotify, BBC Radio 1 support, as well as remixes in 2020 coming from Nic Fanciulli, Paco Osuna and SOSA. Whilst Roberto’s Cookies is set to succeed in club and crossover territories, it also follows his recent club ready cuts on SURA Music and Paco Osuna’s Mindshake Records as well as his official remix for Joel Corry, RAYE and David Guetta’s BED.
Meanwhile, The Melody Men are also gaining recognition as artists in their own right. Ironic to their name, The Melody Men are a two women team who are currently one of the most sought after writing-vocalist duos in the dance world. Set to catapult with this new single as they join forces with Surace, they follow an impressive track record including recent single If It's Love with Mark Knight that’s amassed over 3 million streams, a no. 5 on Beatport as well as securing anthems with Mason, Tough Love and more.
Boasting funky drum patterns that underpin The Melody’s Men sun-kissed lyrics that make for the perfect soul fuelled vocal hooks, Roberto Surace’s Cookies is set to accelerate his prominence to the next level with a collab sure to score the sound of summer 2021.
After listening to Roberto Surace’s sound for the first time you get the sudden perception of his musical intuition and authenticity. It’s so Immediate and real that it gets palpable at times. It’s the outcome of a young artist’s mind. Roberto Surace was born in Rome in 1991 and grew up in Calabria. His first encounter with underground and electronic music dates back to 2010, just a matter of time before he became resident at Vanilla Disco in Siena, where he performed his party “CaramelloClubPrive” until 2017. He has rocked some among the most popular clubs around Italy and Europe, such as Pacha and Bora Bora in Ibiza, Tenax and Otel in Florence, Shoreditch Platform in London, City Hall and Cafe del Mar Lounge in Barcelona.
In 2013 he feels the time has come for him to move on to studio production and set about creating the sound that incorporates his idea of music, namely a sound with a fresh, neat groove and whose rhythmics is fascinating and well articulated. The first rewards are reaped in 2017
when his track “Vibe” is included in “Various Artists”, released by Riva Starr under the label Snatch Records. It is then included in “Music On Billboard Playlist” 2017 by Dj Marco Carola, later that year. 2018 is the year of two major achievements: “Fuck Down” is released by “Elrow Music” and comprised in “Sonar 2018”; Roberto gets signed by one of the major and most productive labels operating in house music, the German Superfett. This is where he releases “Come on everybody”, which had long been supported as well as performed by Carl Cox.
In 2019 “Bloom” comes out on Ibiza Talent and makes a name for itself on the market which was also possible with the strong support of The Martinez Brothers duo. Creative evolution in the production, constant improvement by meticulously researching and selecting samples and a winning use of vocals, are the foundation of his work. However, the leading role is played by percussion along with a warm, deep bass line. A recognizable style that alternates with more structured rhythms and melodies where complex notes stand out. While listening you can get a grasp on the accuracy and dedication that mark Roberto Surace’s work.
In February 2019, driven by the need to start his own label, he sets up SURA Music, which will very soon receive support from artists as popular as Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Joseph Capriati, The Martinez Brothers, Jamie Jones, BLONDISH, Joey Daniel, Neverdogs, Anna Tur and more.
A fascinating and well defined rhythmic cadence sets the atmosphere on his performances and leads the dance from the beginning to the end.
There is a certain amount of irony in the Melody Men’s name given they are a team of two females. Dyanna and Lou are a multi-faceted writing and production team making a serious name for themselves in a testosterone dominated industry.
Between them The Melody Men have a collective skill-set that makes them the ultimate writing and production team. The girls possess a great range of voices and styles whether rapped or sung, along with on-point recording, broadcast quality mixes and post-production.
Individually each has a proven track record in their field but as a collective their powers combine to a whole much greater than the sum of their parts.
This team writes and performs everything from stone cold anthems with BBC Radio 1 support to the coolest of cool underground nuggets. The girls have provided co-writing and vocals on the latest anthem from Toolroom boss Mark Knight ‘If It’s Love’. The picked up huge support with spins on BBC Radio 1 into double figures as well as hitting No.5 in the Beatport chart and 3m Spotify streams and counting.
The London based trio has a burgeoning list of co-writes to their name having scored recent cuts with numerous doyens of the dance scene. Bangers by the likes of Kideko, Mason and Tough Love have all been graced by The Melody Men’s top-lines. The girls have had recent successes on major and cool indie imprints alike. Defected, Toolroom, Newstate, Armada, Black Butter, and Skint/BMG to name but a few. In short the trio are working with some of the biggest and best producers and labels out there.
The girls provided vocals and co-wrote Mason’s ‘Dance, Shake, Move’, which has become a behemoth of a track in the world of synchronization. The tune has now featured in massive TV campaigns for Boots, Vodaphone and Colgate as well as online campaigns for Stella McCartney and some of the biggest TV shows in the UK.
The Melody Men have just released a collection of their infectious top lines and hooks creating their debut sample pack ‘Killa Club Hooks’ for the market leaders Loopmasters.
As their stock grows expect to be hearing more of the girls’ handiwork with some heavyweight tunes from this talented gang on the horizon.
