Glass Petals and No Thanks have put all four of their productive minds together to create a low-slung heater in the form of their latest single, “Like This.”
As the age-old adage goes: “Two heads are better than one.” But what happens when you sit a pair of two-man outfits in the same studio to see what kind of creativity sparks. The answer arrives in the new club creation offered up by Canada’s Glass Petals and fast-rising tech house talents No Thanks. “Like This” starts out swirling in the midst of a deep vocal chant urging the listener to “move your feet like this,” while a horn-led crescendo builds in anticipation along a tight snare roll. The track snaps and immediately cruises smoothly via a rumbling groove built around well-placed sirens, shattering glass samples, high-pitched risers, bubbling basslines, and chopped up vox. It’s nearly impossible not to give into the directive that’s being commanded in the looped refrain. Support for the collab has already come rolling in from Ekali, Felix Cartal, Dr Fresch, Jayceeoh, and more.
No Thanks is coming off a stellar debut on IN / ROTATION, after locking in their funk flecked “UH HUH” on the third installment of the label’s ‘ROTATE’ compilation series. On the other side of the coin, Glass Petals has been dropping quality house productions across camps like HEXAGON, Heldeep, Confession and more. Whether you’ve been following either act from day one or this is your first introduction, it is definitely in your best interest to keep a close watch on what’s next for Glass Petals and No Thanks.
