Daft Punk Could Return In Disney’s Tron 3

Latest from EDMTunes - Wed, 07/08/2020 - 02:32

While we didn’t get the Daft Punk comeback we were hoping for at Coachella, perhaps Tron 3 will prevail. Disney just confirmed that the third installment in the franchise is in development. On top of it, Daft Punk is favored to return for the score.

First off, I just want to say that Daft Punk rocked the soundtrack for Tron Legacy. Their impeccable production for each song set the tone for each scene. Second, this news comes ten years after the series’ sequel. It’s been 38 years since the first installment; look how far CGI and production have come. Since John Ridley’s Tron television series for Disney+ canceled, this leaves room for sequel territory versus a reboot series. Sources have also reported Jared Leto as a lead.

No information has been provided on whether or not Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, and the rest of the cast will reprise their roles. Though Disney hopes that Joseph Kosinski returns as the third installment’s film director and that Daft Punk returns for another iconic score.

As of right now, everything is under speculation regarding directorial duties and music production. But here’s hoping that the dance music community at least gets the reunion we’ve been waiting for. Kosinski’s modernization of the digitalized universe coupled with the incredible electronica soundtrack brought the 2010 film to life. It took us to a world we continue to fantasize about. Both components seem very necessary for a third movie don’t you think? Disney fans, we must make this happen.

BREAKING: Disney confirms that ‘Tron 3’ is officially in development.

Jared Leto is reportedly in talks to star. A director search is underway, but the studio is “hopeful” that ‘Tron: Legacy’ director Joseph Kosinski returns…as well as Daft Punk for the score. GREAT news!

— DR Movie News ???? (@DRMovieNews1) July 7, 2020

Now, rumor mills may start churning on whether or not this will actually happen. But with Disney+, anything can happen–according to Disney music executive, Mitchell Leib.

“Now with Disney+, I think there are opportunities to be creating content that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to create, you know because we’re in the movie business. Disney+ I think is going to afford us the opportunity to expand and get much more diversified in the kind of content we can create.” – Mitchell Leib

Supposedly there is a “phenomenal” script and the timing could be perfect now. From the last movie to the future one, the pieces of the puzzle just need to come together. I think Daft Punk and Tron fans alike would enjoy a new movie.

Lieb is pushing for the French electronic duo to return because it is the “right and first thing to do”. If they are up for it, we are here for it.

Dalai Lama Celebrates 85th Birthday With First Ever Album ‘Inner World’

Latest from EDMTunes - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 23:13

Another milestone to enjoy this year is the Dalai Lama’s 85th birthday. And on that note, you can listen to his debut album Inner World. Oh yes, the Tibetan spiritual leader has his first ever musical venture. It consists of mantras and Buddhist teachings set to music, with his voice as a resounding instrument. Listen to these 11 tracks to find your inner peace in style.

The Dalai Lama has dedicated decades to world peace, and this LP will achieve that sense of safety and hope. He inspires us with his teachings.

“The very purpose of my life is to serve as much as I can…Music can help people in a way that I can’t.” – Dalai Lama

How did this project come to fruition? Well, it started in 2015 with his longtime student, Junelle Kim, and husband, Abe Kunin. The New Zealand duo suggested an album of conversations and mantras from His Holiness. As a result, they requested the sage’s participation. Through one failed attempt and a strongly influential letter in India, the result became a beautiful, peaceful compilation.

One Of My Favorite Prayers‘ begins the set with a prayer by Shantideva, an 8th-century Indian Buddhist philosopher. ‘The Buddha‘ is an ethereal, instrumental piece with light percussion. ‘Compassion‘ instills in us the very trait through its tranquil use of bamboo flute and chant. ‘Courage‘, ‘Healing‘, ‘Wisdom‘, ‘Purification‘, ‘Protection‘ — all these tracks aim to flow those elements through you with slow guitar weaves and mellow saxophone and bass. Listen to these while doing yoga, watching the sunrise or sunset, or if you simply need to take some time for yourself.

In this time of social isolation, sometimes we pent up our frustrations. When was the last time you felt at peace? Let the Dalai Lama drop some ‘Purification‘ on you. ‘Children‘ and ‘Humanity‘ humble you as you listen to his words “…too much emphasis on self-centered attitude and too much on we and them. [That is] the basis of killing, exploitation or injustices”.

Want to see what it’s like? Listen to his LP below and stay strong fam!

DJ Cassidy Invites Music Legends for Star-Studded "Pass The Mic" Virtual Concert - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 19:23

He hosted the stream to "honor and uplift the heroes around the world on the frontlines of health, freedom, and justice."

Due in part to his efforts to "honor and uplift the heroes around the world on the frontlines of health, freedom, and justice," renowned New York-based DJ and record producer DJ Cassidy recently hosted an expansive virtual concert called "Pass The Mic." Cassidy, who performed at the 2009 inauguration of Barack Obama and the 2008 wedding of JAY-Z and Beyoncé, among other prestigious gigs, invited many music legends to perform over the course of the livestream event.

Among the iconic artists to appear on the stream were Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Howard Hewett, illustrious jazz pianist and R&B singer Patrice Rushen, and fabled Ghostbusters theme song creator Ray Parker Jr.

The concert, which originally aired via Twitch on Thursday, July 2nd, attracted over 20,000 viewers before DJ Cassidy published the session on his Instagram TV platform. You can watch it in full below.

DJ Cassidy spoke to PEOPLE about the inspiration behind the stream prior to its launch, waxing poetic about the chance to unite some of his musical heroes. "This week is my birthday week, and since I’ve been known to celebrate by uniting my friends in droves and surprising them with legendary performances by iconic artists, I wanted to find a way to revisit that tradition in light of the times," he told PEOPLE. "One evening, during the heat of the quarantine, I FaceTimed with my dear friend and mentor, Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire. While we were catching up, his classic record, 'That’s The Way Of The World,' came on my speakers. Hearing that song, while on the phone with Verdine, put a smile on my face and brought me some much needed calm."

"I thought about how fortunate I was to have friendships with many of my heroes and how lucky I was to be able to enjoy their music in their company," he continued. "I wondered if I could find a way to share that special feeling with others, so I sat at my turntables in my living room and began Zooming with my musical heroes of [the] 1970s and 1980s, literally passing the mic from one home to the next, in [an] effort to honor and uplift the heroes around the world on the frontlines of health, freedom, and justice."

Disney Announces ‘Tron 3’ Is In Development, Daft Punk Rumored to Score New Film

Latest from Global Dance Electronic - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 19:15

Disney has confirmed that Tron 3 is officially in development. The third installment of the Tron franchise is coming ten years after the sequel, Tron: Legacy. Disney Executive Mitchell Leib interviewed with Light The Fuse podcast and gave more details on the project. It is meant to be more of a sequel than a reboot, and talks for the Tron: Legacy cast returning as well as the director, Joseph Kosinski, is in the works.

Even more exciting than those talk returns is that Disney is looking to Daft Punk to return and do the movie score. While nothing is set in stone yet, the studio is hopeful that the French electronic duo, who made such a memorable score for the second movie, comes back again. The score for Tron: Legacy features an 85-piece orchestra and was a blend of orchestral and electronic music. It went on to get accolades: the score received an award for “Best Original Score” from the Austin Film Critics Association and was nominated for Score of the Year and Breakout Composer of the Year. It also won Best Original Score for a Fantasy/Science Fiction/Horror Film by the International Film Music Critics Association. The soundtrack album was also nominated for Best Score Soundtrack Album for Visual Media at the 54th Grammy Awards. For all of us in the EDM community, it was a memorable score for us as well, whether you are a Tron fan or not.

Even though this is just the beginning, it gives a hopeful air to the next Tron movie. Let’s hope that we get another awesome score from Daft Punk!

Hudson Mohawke and Tiga Join Forces for Wonky Single "Love Minus Zero" - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 18:37

HudMo likened the single to "hardcore romance."

Hudson Mowhawke and Tiga have teamed up to release a new single called "Love Minus Zero," a rave-ready breakbeat beast released independently.

Following its July 6th debut on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show, HudMo took to Twitter to exult that the single has been "quietly in the works the last couple of years" while likening it to "hardcore romance."

Along with the release of "Love Minus Zero" came the announcement that Hudson Mowhawke and Tiga will be releasing a new song each month through the end of 2020, according to a press release. As two of the most versatile and brilliantly mercurial producers in the electronic music sphere, it's anyone's guess as to what they have cooked up for fans in the remainder of the year.

"I like the idea of bizarre-semi random things getting thrown together," said Tiga when asked about recording with HudMo in London and Los Angeles. “That's already part of how me and HudMo work. I bring things and he brings things, and those things normally not might mix. There’s an odd-couple aspect about us, but that’s the best part of it.”

You can listen to the duo's new collaborative single in full below and find it on your favorite streaming platform here.

REPORT: Tron 3 In Development With Jared Leto, & Daft Punk To Score

Latest from Your EDM - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 16:46

It’s been 10 years since Tron: Legacy, seven years since we last heard new music from Daft Punk, but that could all be changing soon as @DRMovieNews1, a reputable source for movie news leaks, reports.

The movie news account claims that Disney has confirmed that ‘Tron 3’ is in development, info that comes from The Dis Insider. Jared Leto is also reportedly in talks to star, and the studio is “hopeful” that Legacy director Joseph Kosinski returns, as well as Daft Punk for the score.

Right now, however, everything about the film is muddled in rumors. The Legacy cast might return, Daft Punk might return, the director might return, it might be a rejuvenation of the cancelled ‘Tron: Ascension’ … nothing is set in stone.

But for a movie that pulled in $400 million at the box office and has had fans begging for a sequel ever since, it’s mindblowing there hasn’t been one yet. Let’s take this with a grain of salt, but we’re still on the edge of our seats.

MORE INFO via @TheDisInsider:

• More of a “sequel” than a “reboot”
• ‘Tron: Legacy’ cast could return
• COULD be a rejuvenation of the cancelled ‘Tron: Ascension’ which saw “The Grid invade the real world” & feature a rumored character named Ares

Illegal Desert Rave Thrown Outside Las Vegas Amid Pandemic

Latest from Your EDM - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 16:30

Illegal raves have popped up amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) quarantine — and one was spotted outside of Las Vegas over Fourth of July weekend.

With disregard to Governor Steve Sisolak‘s pleas for people comply with the state of Nevada’s health standards and not meet up in large groups, the multi-stage event known as The Final Fuse went down in the desert with hundreds of attendees.

KSNV exposed the unauthorized, ticketed event in a recent broadcast. Unfortunately, as reporters discovered, masks and social distancing were not enforced during the desert rave.

The event’s promoter, Malum Geminos, did not respond to the news station for comment.

This news comes as COVID-19 cases are on the rise across Nevada. At the time of this writing, there are 23,791 total reported cases and 548 related deaths.

See the coverage below.

Timmy Trumpet & Legendary Vitas Finally Release Stunning Tomorrowland ID

Latest from Your EDM - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 16:28

Last year at Tomorrowland, Timmy Trumpet invited a wildly unexpected guest to his set — Vitas. You might not recognize the name, but you’ll surely recognize the costume and voice. And if you still don’t recognize, then just check out this video.

Vitas is known for his wide vocal range spanning five octaves, and he’s also one of the few male singers to regularly use the whistle register — the highest register of the human voice. Combining that with Timmy’s hard hitting production gives us a uniquely one-of-a-kind collaboration that you won’t find anywhere else.

Sampling “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” giving way to the track title, gives the track a classical style while still combining it with heavily textured kicks just like you’d expect from hardstyle.

Check out “The King” from Timmy Trumpet & Vitas below!

Disney confirms ‘Tron 3’ in development, Daft Punk favored to return for score

Latest from Dancing Astronaut - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 16:24
Disney confirms ‘Tron 3’ in development, Daft Punk favored to return for scoreTron Legacy Daft Punk 1

Disney has officially confirmed a third installment in the long-running Tron franchise is in development. The news comes ten years after the series’ sequel, Tron: Legacy and 38 years after the franchise’s initial installment. The confirmation comes after a planned Tron television series helmed by John Ridley set to stream on Disney+ was scrapped, and while the details on the project are scarce, sources report the film is likely due to lean more into sequel territory than a reboot. The project has also reportedly secured a lead in Jared Leto.

Whether Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, and the rest of the cast will reprise their roles remains to be seen. Though perhaps more tantalizingly, Disney is hoping the film’s director Joseph Kosinski will return for the third installment, as well as Daft Punk for a sequel to their iconic Tron: Legacy score. While directorial duties and Daft Punk’s involvement are far from confirmed and just speculative as of now, Kosinski’s 21st century modernization of the Tron universe and Daft Punk’s inimitable sonics are what brought the 2010 film to life. Both seem like necessary components to a third Tron installment, and seem to be Disney’s favored targets. Now the waiting game begins.

Here is a Techno Song Featuring Vocalized Versions of Elon Musk's Best Tweets - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 16:08

Tech meets techno in this madcap crossover.

Elon Musk, the eccentric billionaire, Tesla boss, DJ, and father to a human named X Æ A-Xii, is sauntering through life with an iridescent glow after his flagship automobile and battery company dethroned Toyota as the world's largest automaker by market value. A decade after Tesla went public, the company's market cap recently eclipsed a staggering $224 billion, almost 30% more than that of Toyota.

What better way to pay tribute to the unprecedented milestone than with a visual representation of the meteoric rise of Tesla soundtracked to a techno song featuring vocalized versions of its fabled founder's best tweets?

The madcap video arrived courtesy of tech journalist David Canellis by way of Hard Fork, the money and markets vertical of technology outlet The Next Web. Breathing life into incendiary tweets like the one about taking Tesla private, which triggered a federal lawsuit, Canellis somehow succeeded in encapsulating the phlegmatic gusto of Musk within a rave-ready, techno audial backbone.

You can watch the video, which Hard Fork touts as an ode to Musk's house track "Don't Doubt Ur Vibe," below.

A Massive 4th of July Desert Rave Took Place Over the Weekend In the Midst Of A Pandemic

Latest from Global Dance Electronic - Tue, 07/07/2020 - 15:37

As the battle between the spread of COVID-19 continues to grow in the United States, officials like Governor Steve Sisolak continue to ask their residents to please continue to abide by CDC regulations, especially by not gathering in large groups of people. Of course, we still have those individuals who regardless of the life-threatening risks that are out there, continue to allow the spread of the virus, by continuing to party. In fact, we had some “brave” party-goers throw a whole underground rave for the patriotic weekend. News 3 in Las Vegas were given the exclusive on the location and details of this secret event.

Tickets were sold online and once the purchase was made ticket holders were sent the information that they needed, asking attendees to also not post the details to keep everything hush hush.

In the video taken by News 3, you see fireworks lighting the night sky popping off one by one. Hundreds of ravers having the time of their life with no one precaution being taken. No masks, no sanitation stations, multiple stages bunching crowds into one large lump on the desert floor. According to the event flyer “Malum Geminos” was the one who hosted the desert rave over 4th of July weekend. The biggest question on everyone’s mind is why? Interestingly enough, there was also no business license that could be found either to locate the promoter. As locals flooded their social media with content documenting the night, Dr. Christina Madison, a local public health expert and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with Roseman University of Health Sciences, had this to say on the matter.

“Try not to do these large gatherings — it’s a super-spreader event just waiting to happen,” she said. “Please, please, take responsibility for yourself. Do not spread this to others. Do not fill up our ERs. And Our ICUs. And get people to the point where they have to require a ventilator. Please, I’m begging you.”

PLEASE continue to social distance and wear your masks out in public. The quicker we beat this, the quicker we’ll get back to the dance floor.

The track retains The Weeknd’s vocals but completely changes up the tempo and energy. The mixture of sounds and melodies are perfect for both festival and club play.

During Good Faith’s production, Madeon listened to a plethora of hip hop, as well as artists like Frank Ocean, Tyler, the Creator, Kraftwerk, and Pink Floyd, and states that their music gave inspiration for some of the production styles of the album.

Fast forward to 2020 and Madeon drops a remix of his album single “No Fear No More” featuring Dreamville’s very own EARTHGANG. For those who are aren’t familiar with them.
