It’s been almost three months since Armin van Buuren unleashed his seventh artist album, and ‘Balance’ is still lighting up the electronic dance music realm. After unveiling the ‘Balance’-themed murals in New York, Mexico City and Amsterdam, launching a full-fledged ‘Balance’ escape room in the Dutch capital, seeing the album gain the certified gold status in the Netherlands within five days and evoking a truckload of magical moments through album track features in live shows across the globe, Armin van Buuren is adding even more fireworks into the mix by launching the first batch of ‘Balance’ remixes.
For the remixes, Armin van Buuren called upon the specific remix skills of several of dance music’s finest. Offering up imaginative new directions of respectively ‘Mr. Navigator’, ‘It Could Be’ and ‘Runaway’, i_o, Genix and Erly Tepshi adopt a more club-suited approach.
Between Genix’s dark Techno-tinged version of ‘It Could Be’ and Erly Tepshi’s atmospheric take on ‘Runaway’, i_o delivers a ferocious remix of Armin van Buuren and Tempo Giusto’s ‘Mr. Navigator’. Driven by bulldozing kick-bass combos, crude hi-hats and the raw vocals of the original, this edit brings with it a natural aptitude for dance floor domination due to its extreme amounts of energy and power. All combined, this first batch of remixes ensures bags of mainstage appeal and fist-pumping crowds as far as the eye can see.

World-famous DJ, Armin van Buuren, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) are joining forces to motivate millions of people to join the movement to stop plastic waste being dumped in oceans. WWF is proud to announce that as Global Oceans Ambassador, Armin will contribute to the worldwide #BeatPlastic campaign.
Armin van Buuren says: “In between tours, I visited several WWF projects on Bali. There I could see with my own eyes how beautiful animals like turtles are affected by plastic pollution. These experiences opened my eyes and made me realize how much aid is needed. For years, I have been bringing people together through music. That’s my way of making the world a little better. Besides being a DJ and producer, I am also a father and I want to give my kids the world they deserve, a world that not only they can appreciate, but one that can be enjoyed by many generations to come.”
The DJ adds: “The WWF’s inspiring message of nature conservation appeals to me as a father, a person and a public figure. I’m proud to announce we are joining forces and that I can call myself a Global Oceans Ambassador.”
The top DJ and the nature organization intend the #BeatPlastic campaign to mobilize Armin’s millions of fans, followers and supporters to stop plastic pollution. Urgent action is needed because at present, 8 million tons of plastic are dumped in the oceans each year.

Eradicating disposable plastic
As WWF ambassador, Armin is going to be active on various fronts. One of his projects is to ask his fans to sign the WWF petition, which calls on world leaders to draft an international binding UN treaty, containing concrete steps to stop plastic pollution. Armin is also going to give the right example by making his A State of Trance events plastic-smart.
Marco Lambertini, Director General of WWF International is delighted with the news of Armin being named WWF Global Oceans Ambassador: "Our Oceans are in crisis, threatened by climate change and overfishing, but also plastic pollution, which is set to double by 2030. Addressing this requires a concerted approach involving business, government and the public. Together with leading personalities like Armin we can inspire millions of people around the globe to speak up to ensure that plastics never become waste.”
A link-up as epic as Armin van Buuren and NE-YO’s recent collaboration deserves a remix of equal significance, and that’s exactly what fans are getting. Today, Dutch electronic music powerhouse Nicky Romero offered up a top-notch remix of ‘Unlove You’, delivering the very best of what dance music has to offer.

Unleashing his own touches onto the buzzing ‘Unlove You’, Nicky Romero pushes out into the night with his club-tailored interpretation. Enhanced with a hands-in-the-air melody and seamless arrangement, this remix is the perfect counterpart of Armin van Buuren and NE-YO’s smash hit.
Armin van Buuren: “I’m very happy with this incredible remix from Nicky Romero. I’m a long-time fan of his work and I feel that he did the original song justice whilst giving it an energetic, mainstage-ready twist of his own. Top-drawer stuff!”
Nicky Romero: "Armin van Buuren and I have been colleagues for a long time, so it’s about time we started working together. I was in the studio listening to the songs of his album ‘Balance’ and his track with NE-YO struck a chord with me. I coincidentally had a project open that matched the vibe and key of the record perfectly, so it was just meant to be. It’s a magnificent song, and I’m glad I got to make it my own.”
After taking the world by storm with early hits such as ‘Legacy’ (with Krewella) and #1 single ‘I Could Be The One’ (with Avicii), Nicky Romero quickly proved that his talent is ever-evolving and here to stay. After launching his Protocol Recordings imprint in 2012, the renowned performer, producer and label head continued his personal successes with a string of high-profile releases, ranging from collabs with Mike Williams & Amba Shepherd, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, DallasK & XYLØ and Steve Aoki & Kiiara to remixes for the likes of Kygo, Rita Ora, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Jess Glynne and more. All the while showcasing his label’s roster via his weekly Protocol Radio show, Nicky Romero continues to touch down across the globe for his incredible live performances, including residencies at Las Vegas’ Hakkasan and Omnia and forthcoming shows at Medusa Festival in Mexico, Temple in San Francisco, Marquee in New York City, Prysm in Chicago and more.

When two of electronic music’s most longstanding and esteemed acts partner up for a brand-new single, you just know there’s something coming up that will exceed all expectations. With more than fifty years of exhaustive dance music experience between them as well as a truckload of global hits, Armin van Buuren and Inner City (Kevin and Dantiez Saunderson) hit the studio together to create a track that crosses the divide between their respective musical cultures. Their first-ever collaborative effort, ‘It Could Be’, is the bridge between Detroit and Amsterdam and one of the amazing new singles featured on Armin van Buuren’s forthcoming ‘Balance’ album (due October 25).
Listen to Armin van Buuren vs Inner City – It Could Be
Rebellious and open-minded, ‘It Could Be’ is one of the most unexpected and interesting collabs on Armin van Buuren’s seventh artist album. Made in tandem with Inner City, the group responsible for monumental dance classics such as ‘Good Life’ and ‘Big Fun’, this track simply oozes with so much dance-floor-wrecking potential it’ll be very hard for listeners not to get their groove on.
Armin van Buuren: “To work with Inner City is a dream come true for me. They were already setting the tone in the dance music scene back when I was only just taking my first steps in the industry. Their hits are timeless, their sound remains evergreen and their creativity in the studio was so inspiring. I’m super proud of the end result, as it shows all that could be when you are open-minded and willing to get inspired by sounds, styles or genres that are different from your own.”
Kevin Saunderson, Inner City: “I’m excited to have done this collaboration as both the Inner City and Armin van Buuren history goes way back. We’ve both seen and heard the scene change over the years, but ultimately our aim is the same, to uplift people through the power of music. So here it is, Detroit meets Amsterdam.”
Detroit electronic music group Inner City is one of the most influential dance acts of all time. Originally formed in 1987 by Kevin Saunderson and vocalist Paris Grey, they topped the U.S. Billboard Dance chart five times and had steady fixtures in the Top 40 of the U.K. Singles chart. 2019 welcomed in a new era as Kevin and his son Dantiez now form the foundation of the group. This year, they embarked on their first Inner City live tour in Europe since two decades, hitting major festivals and events together with guest vocalist Steffanie Christi’an, as well as releasing single ‘Need Your Love’. With more new music on the horizon, Inner City are poised to enjoy the good life as much today as they did in 1987.
